Yang Rou Pao Mo Xian Food

Fan's cured meat in pancakes appeared In Xian a long time ago. It is one of the traditional Shaanxi delicacies. In fact they are pancakes made of high-quality wheat flour stuffed with cured meat. There is a story about it. In the Tang Dynasty, an official called "Fan" lived In Eastern Chang'an. Once he financed a young man when his mother died. Ten years later, this young man became wealthy through his cured meat business. Since there were many guests on the day, Fan did not take any notice of the coffin. Ten years later when Fan died of Illness, the family had no means of making a living but sell property. At last, they found the coffin in the small house. When the family opened it, there was the aromatic and freshly looking cured meat! Mrs. Fan sent it for sale In the market and It was well received. More people rushed to the family for the meat. Mrs. Fan put some fresh meat into the juice. The newly cooked cured meat was just as delicious. Then the Fans' fame of their cured meat went apace.

The history of Qiaomianheluo:

Heluo was once called helou in ancient China. It has a long history. A famous agriculturalist Wangzhen in Yuan dynasty, once wrote Heluo like this: "On the back of north hill, there has a kind of wheat which can grind into flour and make into cake or make soup noodles." Heluo is good for health, it is not only good for intestines, but also good for stomach. Heluo is made of buckwheat. It was said that buckwheat is the most nutritious food. It is abundant in amylum, protein, aminophenol, vitaminP, vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, magnesium, flavone and so on.

Terracotta Warriors China

The Terracotta Army has lain underground for more than 2000 years. However, in 1974, farmers digging a well uncovered one of the Terracotta-Warriors-China-Armygreatest archaeological sites in the world. The first part of the Terracotta Army site to be discovered was named Vault One. In 1976, two other vaults were uncovered 20-25 meters from Vault One, and were named Vault Two and Vault Three.

Pit No.1 is in oblong shape, covering an area of 14260 square meters. There are five sloping entrances on the eastern and western side of the pit respectively.

Down inside the tunnel, there are ten earth-rammed partition walls, across which huge and strong rafters were placed, covered with mats and fine soil and filling earth. The floors are paved with bricks.The terracotta warriors and horses in Pit No.1 are arrayed in a practical battle formation. In the long corridor to the east end of the pit stand three rows of terracotta warriors in battle tunics and puttees, facing east, 70 in each row, totaling 210 altogether. Armed with bows and arrows, they constitute the vanguard.There is one row of warriors in the south, north and west of the corridor respectively, facing outward. They are probably the flanks and the rear guard. Holding crossbows, arrows and other long-distance shooting weapons, they took up the job of defending the whole battle formation. The ten rammed partition walls divided Pit No.1 into eleven latitudinal passage ways where stand 38 columns of warriors with horse-drawn chariots in the center.

About Xian:Xi'an lies on the Guanzhong Plain in central China, on a flood plain created by the eight surrounding rivers and streams, most of which are too polluted to be used as sources of fresh water. The City Wall in Xian is the most complete city wall to survive in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. It was built first in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and renovated in recent years. Outside the city wall is a moat. A circular park has now been built along the high wall and the deep moat.

Additional attractions are the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Small Wild Goose Pagoda of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D), while worshipers still frequent the Great Mosque and the famous Famen Temple noted for its collection of Sakyamuni's relics. These together with the magnificent Shaanxi History Museum are all highly recommended attractions to be visited when you come to Xian.
